Well Log #1 – Early February / First Garage Practices

We have had a few practices so far at Jen’s. It all sounds good, and I think I will start memorializing these “Well Logs”.

We’ve been practicing in Jennifer’s garage, getting ready for a gig at the community college in Gardner. It’s cold. There’s a wood stove going for heat. The garage has character—a little cluttered, gear stacked around, cables everywhere.

Well Log #5 – Wasabi Time Travel (3/2/26)

This was a fun practice—just Jen, Lindsey, and me in Kittery, in Jen’s garage.

We got together at 2:00 in the afternoon and made it through all nine songs—just piano, a little organ, and vocals.

The blend of their voices together was something else. It sounded like they’ve been singing together for years.

We’ve been invited by John Little, professor in the audio department at the community college in Gardner, MA, to record three original songs—both audio and video—on Saturday, March 28, 2026, with students and faculty assisting.

The band has been actively rehearsing since February 19, meeting weekly to prepare, refine arrangements, and build momentum toward the recording session. What began as a fun project has grown into a committed collaborative effort.

Well Log #7 – Shepherd’s Pie (3/12/26)

Chris and I arrived in Kittery for practice around 3:30 and made our presence known on the bullhorn as we entered the garage: “Hello Jen Thayer, hello, hello!” That got a laugh.

We put tonight’s dinner in the oven to heat up while we waited—Shepherd’s Pie courtesy of Sarah.

Well Log #8 – Stuffed Shells (3/17/26)

We got a bit of a late start this evening. Jennifer had been recruited to pick up groceries for an elderly couple.

Chris and I had a bank run and picked up bread to go with the stuffed shells, so we didn’t leave Milford for Maine until 3:45.

Well Log #9 – Small Pizzas (3/26/26)

Jen ordered pizza for dinner tonight—she insists on small pizzas, she says they taste better. They were good.

Great practice tonight. We have Friday off to rest up and everyone is feeling good about recording day Saturday at the college. I think we’re ready and honestly, a bit tired, in a good way.
